What is a Path?
Overview
A Path is the highest-level structure in LearnPath’s UGC system. It organizes multiple Rooms into a cohesive learning roadmap, allowing learners to progress step by step through various topics. You can also attach an optional certificate to a Path so learners receive recognition upon completion.
Key Roles of a Path
- Course Organization: Bundle multiple Rooms into one place. For example, you might have “HTML Basics,” “CSS Foundations,” and “JavaScript Essentials” Rooms under a “Front-End Web Development” Path.
- Sequential Learning: You decide the order in which Rooms appear, guiding learners through a recommended progression.
- Completion Certificate (Optional): Upload a PDF template that can be auto-filled with the learner’s name, date, and Path title when they finish all Rooms at 100% progress.
- Public URL & Revenue Share: Each published Path has a unique link (e.g.,
?ref=external
). Share it to earn a revenue share from new subscribers who enroll via your Path.
Path vs Rooms
- Room: Focuses on a single topic or skill area, containing multiple Steps.
- Path: Combines multiple Rooms into a full learning track. Think of a Path as your “complete course” or “curriculum,” while Rooms are like the “chapters” or “modules.”
Features and Settings
- Title & Description: Provide a clear name and short summary for your Path.
- Introduction: Optionally add a longer introductory note or learning objectives.
- Image (3:1 ratio recommended): Set a banner or header image that appears on the Path page.
- Rooms Order: Pick any number of published Rooms and arrange them in the order you’d like learners to see them.
- Certificate PDF: If you want learners to get a completion certificate, upload a PDF template. Once a learner hits 100% progress on all Rooms, the system will generate a personalized certificate.
- Publish Toggle: Make the Path discoverable. If it’s not published, learners cannot access it even if they have the direct link.
Learner's View of a Path
- Path Overview: Learners see a banner or title and read your introduction. They get a sense of how many Rooms are in the Path.
- Room List: Each Room is listed in the order you set, with difficulty and progress bars.
- Progress & Completion: The system aggregates all Room progress. Reaching 100% in each Room yields 100% Path completion, which can trigger a certificate download if enabled.
- URL Sharing: If the Path is published, you can share its URL on social media or embed it in your website. New users who register through your link may generate subscription revenue for you.
